Practice management for allied health and mental health practices

Less admin. More clinic. If you run an occupational therapy, podiatry, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, psychology or counselling practice, this page says plainly what Praxia does for you today and where it does not yet.

A woman and a practitioner sit in chairs facing each other and talk in a bright consulting room with a closed door behind them.

Read this first

Praxia is practice management for Australian allied health, and it was built with a working clinic. It was not built around mental health practice. Private health fund rebate claiming through Tyro Health is part of the pilot product. Medicare, DVA and NDIS are in scope for the platform but not part of the early pilot release, and may arrive during the pilot or, more likely, before commercial release; tell us if they matter to your clinic. If Medicare or NDIS billing is central to how you work today, Praxia is probably not the right choice yet, and we would rather say so now.

If your needs are mainly a clear diary, clinical notes, follow-up with patients who have stopped coming, and a view of how the practice is running, the sections below describe what exists.

What works for any discipline

Each clinician has a day view and a week view as a schedule grid. Rosters are set by the week and copied forward, with clashes flagged early.

Visit notes are written in SOAP sections that autosave, keep an edit history and cannot be signed off until your practice’s rules are met.

Patients can complete intake forms online before they arrive, and the answers land in their record.

Access is role based, so reception, clinicians and owners see what suits each job.

Follow-up with patients who stop coming

Patients whose visits stop are grouped into recall cohorts by time since they last attended, using rules your practice sets. This is part of the pilot product.

An attrition log shows staff which lapsed patients need a personal call, with the reason recorded.

Opt-outs are honoured, and patients can set their own communication preferences.

For sensitive practices this matters: when messaging is switched on, what is sent, and to whom, stays in the clinic’s hands. Recall rules are set by your practice rather than decided for you.

Letters and reports

Praxia can draft a first-pass referral or discharge letter to a GP, and a clinician reviews and approves every draft before anything is sent.

Owners and practice managers get a reports page, filterable by date and clinician.

Where you can help shape it

We are listening to clinics outside physiotherapy and chiropractic. If you tell us what your practice needs, we will say honestly whether it is on our list, and whether it is a matter of weeks or of a much longer road. We will not promise dates we cannot keep.

Who is behind Praxia

Praxia is being piloted with Evolution Medical Care, a clinic run by Praxia’s founders, and is being onboarded to it now. Praxia Clinical Solutions is an Australian company, currently in incorporation. We have no customer numbers, testimonials or results to show you, and we will not invent any. More about the team is on the about page.

Pricing for allied health practices

Pricing is per practitioner per month in Australian dollars, excluding GST: A$199 for a solo practitioner, A$159 for 2 to 4 practitioners, A$119 for 5 to 10, A$89 for 11 to 20, and 21 or more on application. GST is added to your invoice and shown as a separate line.

See the pricing page for the full table.

Allied health and mental health questions

Does Praxia do NDIS billing?

NDIS is in scope for the platform but not part of the early pilot release, and may arrive during the pilot or, more likely, before commercial release; tell us if it matters to your clinic. Invoicing, bulk upload and plan tracking are not part of the early pilot release.

Is there anything specific to psychologists or counsellors?

No. Nothing in Praxia is designed specifically for mental health practice yet. The general notes, diary and follow-up features work for any discipline, but we have not tested them against the needs of mental health practice.

Can I use my own note templates?

We do not have discipline-specific templates, and we have not promised custom templates. Ask in a walkthrough.

Where are records kept?

Each clinic’s records are kept isolated from every other clinic’s, with role-based access and an audit trail of key actions. Some service providers we use are overseas, and each is disclosed in our privacy policy. See the security page for detail.

Can I claim health fund rebates, Medicare or DVA?

Private health fund claiming through Tyro Health is part of the pilot product. It has been built and run end to end on Tyro’s staging environment. Card payments at the front desk through Tyro Health are part of the pilot product too. See where payments and claiming stand. Medicare and DVA are in scope for the platform but not part of the early pilot release, and may arrive during the pilot or, more likely, before commercial release; tell us if they matter to your clinic.
